This platform works because students trust it. These are the standards that keep it that way.
Be useful
The forum exists so a 100-level student can ask a question a 400-level student can answer in thirty seconds. Answer plainly, cite the handbook or the department where relevant, and skip the sarcasm — someone is asking because they genuinely do not know.
Be honest in the marketplace
Describe faults up front. A listing that says "small crack on the screen, everything works" sells faster than one that hides it and wastes two people's afternoon.
Do not list something you do not have. Do not ask for payment before the buyer has seen the item.
Be careful with anonymity
Anonymous posting exists for genuinely sensitive questions — mental health, harassment, money, academic trouble. It is not cover for insulting someone.
Moderators can see who posted. Anonymous abuse gets the same consequences as signed abuse, plus the loss of anonymous posting.
Do not
- Harass, threaten or target individuals, staff included
- Post hate speech based on ethnicity, religion, gender, disability or origin
- Share someone's personal information without their consent
- Post sexual content, or anything involving minors
- Spam, or manipulate votes, reviews and engagement
- Impersonate anyone, or claim to speak for the university
Reporting
Every listing, thread, comment and profile can be reported. Reports go to a moderation queue and are reviewed by a person, not an algorithm. You will not be told who reported what.
Consequences
We aim to be proportionate.
- A warning and content removal — for a first, minor breach.
- A temporary suspension — for repeated breaches, or a serious first one.
- A permanent ban — for scams, harassment campaigns, or anything illegal.
Scam listings and harassment skip straight to step three. If money or safety is involved, we will cooperate with the university and with the police.
Appeals
If you think a decision was wrong, email fuoconnectstv@gmail.com with your username and what happened. A different moderator will review it.
